"After my wife, Amy, died, two things happened. One, during the time between her death and the funeral, I was surrounded by a great cloud of people who gave me love, support, compassion and more. Two, after the funeral, they all (mostly) went away, back to their own lives ... which was, of course, appropriate. But, it left me to struggle in isolation, floundering to regain my footing in a world that was no longer familiar. So, I pitched myself headlong into Scripture and prayer and agony, trying to learn what to do. I’m still trying to learn that. So I wanted to give people facing life after the funeral someone to stand beside them, someone who could express what they were feeling, but maybe couldn’t articulate it for themselves. A friend to help them grieve well."
